With our trip to Barcelona fast approaching after the weekend, we hope you are as excited as we are! To help you with the pre-conference planning we'e summarized our 5 top travel tips:
1. Know your travel options!
Barcelona and its metropolitan area have a wide range of public transport and sightseeing transport options. The main ways to get around are:
Metro- You can buy tickets for individual journeys for the metro at per ticket. But if you are here for more than one day or intend taking more than 5 journeys on the metro or buses it's best to buy the T10 ticket (see below).
Metro Ticket Price
Single ticket: €2.15
Taxi- A 15 minutes journey will cost about €10.00. Licensed Taxis have to charge the amount displayed on the meter and rates will be displayed inside the taxi!
2. Network on social media with other conference attendees prior to the event
Let your social-media contacts know you are attending ESG! If your network is mostly industry connections, there will be a good chance many of them will also be attending. Engage with other participants using the conference #ESG2017 and engage with us on twitter @wh_edu
3. Put the conference venue and hotel address into your phone.
You will often need to reference the conference venue and hotel addresses when arranging transportation, looking for restaurants and finding evening entertainment. It makes for quick decisions on the go possible -- everything is usually fast-paced so take advantage of any opportunity to save time. ESG will be at Hotel Rey Juan Carlos I Fairmont – Carrer de la Torre Melina .
4. Make sure you have everythingyou need for a long day!
Most conferences are all-day events, starting early and going into the evening, followed by a networking or dinner event. When you pack your bag for the day make sure you have everything you need including: business cards, your electronic devices, chargers and snacks to hold you over between scheduled meals.
5. Plan your agenda before arriving at the conference .
Go through the agenda and select the key sessions for you! If you can't decide look out for our blog post on Monday which will cover all the key sessions we will be blogging from this year!
See you all on Wednesday- safe travels!
